OBITUARY.........
William Pickens Boyd, 67, well known farmer of the Point section of Bethel township died at his home January 1, 1861 after an illness of three weeks with pneumonia. Mr. Boyd was born March 12, 1928 to the late Rufus Franklin Boyd and Margaret Elizabeth Boyd. He was a native of Bethel township, where he lived all of his life, following the vocation of a farmer, and living a life that made friends and held them by his upright character, clean living and neighborly qualilties.
He was married on January 31, 1889 to Lexine Gertrude Harper, who survives, and they had seven children. Six of these survive, four daughters and two sons. Also surviving were two brothers and one sister.
His remains were interred in Bethel Church Cemetery following his funeral service which was conducted by Revs. J. R. Smith and A. H. Key. The church was filled to overflowing with the family, relatives and friends of the deceased and his family, who came to pay their last tribute to his memory.
Rev. Smith paid tribute to the deceased as follows: "He was a good neighbor, a good husband and father, a good provider, a consecrated Christian. He will be missed by his family, his brothers and sister. Those who knew him best loved him most."
