Biography

0BITUARY:
Mrs. Mabel Campbell Currence Emory, 88, formerly of York, South Carolina, passed away September 17, 1989 at Memorial Mission Hospital.
Mrs. Emory was born in York County, South Carolina, to the late John Labon Currence, Sr. and Margaret Ida Brandon Currence. She was a graduate of Winthrop College, Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was a retired school teacher, after teaching elementary school in York County and Clover Schools, South Carolina, and in Banner Elk, North Carolina.
Mrs. Emory compiled and published a history of the Currence Family and assisted in the publication of the Brandon Family history.  She also worked for P. P. Leventis and Company, Gastonia, North Carolina.  She was a member of the Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church, Asheville, North Carolina.
Survivors are her husband of fifty six years, John Austin Emory, a son, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a brother and a sister.
The funeral was held September 20, 1989, at Groce  Funeral Home, Asheville, North Carolina, with Rev. John McLung officiating. Burial was held September 21, 1989, at Bethel Church Cemetery, Clover, South Carolina, with Rev. John A. Gess officiating.
Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia, North Carolina, handled the local arrangements.
