MRS. S.J. PETTY DEAD.
Well-Known Lady of Bowling Green Passes Away at Advanced Age - Buried at Bethel Sunday.
At the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Neeley, at Bowling Green, near the State line in York county South Carolina, Mrs. S.J. Petty died Saturday afternoon at 1:20 o'clock following an illness of about two weeks from pneumonia. She was 78 years three months and 11 days old.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. A.A. McLean, of Clover, and the body was taken to Bethel Presbyterian church for interment. For many years Mrs. Petty held her membership at Bethel church but during the past few years had held it at Bowling Green.
Surviving deceased are six children, namely: Mrs. John Neeley, Mrs. Lizzie Jenkins, of Rutherford county; Mrs. Mary Williams, Messrs. W.C., G.B. and E.G. Petty, all of the Bowling Green section. Her husband died about 17 years ago. Prior to her marriage Mrs. Petty was a Miss Cobb. She was born and reared within a short distance of where she died. She was held in very high esteem by a large number of friends all of whom are saddened by her death.
