OBITUARY:
Janie Alexander Craig Harper, 77, died March 31, 1954 at her home in South Gastonia, North Carolina after a critical illness of two weeks.She had been in ill health for several years.
She was born December 21, 1877 to the late John Starr Craig and Grizelda Jane Nolen Craig in Gaston County, North Carolina.
Janie was married to Andrew Campbell Harper on December 21, 1898, after which she moved to York County, South Carolina. She returned to the Union section in Gaston County, North Carolina 26 years later and had made her home there since that time.
Mrs. Harper was survived by her husband, three daughters, Kathleen Torrence, Edna Kendrick, Margaret Riddle, two sisters, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Harry Craig Harper, who died when he was a youth.
Funeral services were held April 2, 1954, at Union Presbyterian Church, Gastonia North Carolina, with Rev. Hoyt Evans, Rev. J. E. Anderson, and Rev. J. N. Bowman, officiating.
Burial was in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Clover, South Carolina.
