J.E. Barnett Dead.
News was received here Saturday afternoon by Mr. S.W. Patrick of the sudden death of his brother-in-law, Mr. J. Ed. Barnett, of Ebenezer, S.C. Mr. Barnett died of apoplexy at one o'clock Saturday afternoon, having been in his accustomed health before suffering the stroke. Deceased was a native of the Bethel section of York county and was 62 years of age. He moved from Bethel to Rock Hill about fifteen years ago. Early in life he married Miss Jane Patrick, who has been dead a number of years. Surviving deceased are the following children: Mrs. Edith Dodd of Inman, S.C.; Dr. A.W. Barnett, of Clemson College, S.C.; Miss Bessie Barnett, of Memphis, Tenn.; Miss Mattie Lou Barnett and Marlin Barnett, of Ebenezer. A brother, Mr. Robert Barnett, of Rock Hill, and a sister, Mrs. Mattie Craig, of Gaston county, also survive. The remains were interred at Bethel cemetery beside those of his wife Monday morning after funeral services conducted by Rev. Paul H. Moore, of Ebenezer. Attending the funeral from Gastonia were Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Patrick, Dr. L. Neale Patrick and Mr. R.C. Patrick. Mr. Barnett had visited Mr. Patrick only about two weeks ago and his sudden death was a great shock to his family and friends.
