OBITUARY:
Mr. Jack Bean, Jr., 92, of Clover, South Carolina, passed away November 17, 2023, at CaroMont Medical Center, Gastonia, North Carolina.
Mr. Bean was born January 8, 1931, in Caldwell County, North Carolina, to the late Bascom Braswell Beane and Lettie Lissie Kaylor Beane. He was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen Jo Jones Bean, one daughter, one son, and a granddaughter.
After graduating from high school, Jack enlisted in the Army and served in the Signal Corps from 1949-1952. He survived many hardships and dangers while serving in the Korean War. After his mililary service, he moved to Jacksonville, North Carolina, where he met his wife, Helen. They married in 1955 in Chesterfield, South Carolina. They soon moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, where Jack began his career with AT&T. While in Greensboro, they had two children and made several moves before settling in Clover, South Carolina, in 1976.
Jack was an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church for many years where he served in numerous positions, such as Deacon, Elder, Elder Emeritus, and Trustee. He retired from AT&T in 1987. In retirement he enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, reading and spending time with his family.
He was buried in Bethel Church Cemetery on November 20, 2023, followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Church Sanctuary, officiated by the Revs. Trent P.Thomas and Michael D. Lee.
