Granite die on base shared by James C. and Charlotte W. Barnett that serves as the headstone for this family plot. James C. Cowan has a granite lawn-style marker as a footstone. The footstone's inscription reads: "[Cross] JAMES COWAN BARNETT/US MARINE CORPS/WORLD WAR II/SEP 12 1921 OCT 1 2012".

OBITUARY...
James Cowen Barnett, 91, passed away October 1, 2012 .  He was born September 12, 1921 in Clover, SC to the late James Meek and Cate Cowen Barnett.
Mr. Barnett was a dedicated husband and father.  He graduated from Clover High School and attended Clemson College.  He was an US Marine Veteran, serving in the Pacific in World War II.  He was stationed in Australia, then served at Guadalcanal and Okinawa.  He fought in the Battle of Peleliu.
Upon returning to the States, Mr. Barnett married Charlotte Westmoreland on December 1, 1945 and had been married for 66 years at his death.  He retired from the Clover National Guard after serving as administrative assistant for 30 years. He was an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Clover, SC, serving as Sunday School Teacher, Elder, Clerk of Session, Trustee and in later years as Elder Emeritus.
Funeral service was held October 4, 2012 at Bethel Presbyterian Church with Rev. John A. Gess officiating. Interment was in the Bethel Church Cemetery.
Mr. Barnett was survived by his wife, Charlotte Westmoreland Barnett, a daughter, a son, and two grandsons.
