Polished granite lawn-style marker flush with ground that has polished granite dies on base that flank a marble urn and have inscriptions "JOHNSTON" and "SPARROW". A granite lawn-style marker flush with the ground serves as the footstone.

Biography

SGT, ARMY AIR FORCES, WORLD WAR II

OBITUARY:
Mr. David Dale Johnston, Jr.,48, passed away January 30, 1972, in a Columbia Hospital.
He was born in York County, to Mr. David Dale Johnston, Sr. and the late Mrs. Lula Boyd Johnston.
He was an adjuster with the St. Paul Insurance Company. He received his BS Degree and Law Degree from the University of South Carolina in the Class of 1955. He was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Fraternity.  Mr. Johnston was a Scoutmaster, received the First Swamp Fox Meritorius award in the State of South Carolina and was a member of the Order of the Arrow.
He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Faye Stowe Johnston, his father, a son, a daughter, and three brothers.
Funeral service was held February 1, 1972, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. Edwin C. Langham.  Interment was in Bethel Church Cemetery, Clover, South Carolina.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Chapel, Columbia, South Carolina, served the Johnston family.
