OBITUARY:
William Guy Davis, 65, of Clover, South Carolina was found dead of a heart attack in the woods behind Bethel Chapel Church January 11, 1958. The family had called and reported him missing about 8:30 PM. Mr. Davis had left his home about 4:00 PM going to a barber shop in Clover. After the police were notified, Mr. Davis' car was found near Bethel Chapel , which is near his home. The family reported he owned some property near there. When the body was found in the woods, Dr.W. K. McGill determined the cause of the death. He said Davis had recently suffered a heart attack prior to the fatal one.
He was born August 13, 1892 in York County, South Carolina to the late Rufus J. and Sarah Kendrick Davis.
Mr. Davis was a prominent farmer and a partner in Bethel Gin Company.
Mr. Davis was a former member of the Clover School Board, a member of the Rock Hill Production Credit Corporation and a member of the JOUAM.
He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon from 1913-1938, and since that time as Elder.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Atwood Parker Davis, two daughters, Mrs. William Lesslie and Mrs. Pressley Riddle, two granddaughters and one brother.
The funeral was held at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Clover, South Carolina with Rev. David Coblentz officiating, assisted by Rev. George Riddle and Dr. Tilden Scherer. Burial was in Bethel Church Cemetery.
