TRIBUTE FROM SESSION-BETHEL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, CLOVER, SC.
Major Arthur A. McKenzie passed away on August 3, 1875, after a protracted sickness. He was borne with christian submission. He was one of the oldest members of Bethel Presbyterian Church and a ruling elder there for thirty one years. He was elected Elder in 1844 during the pastorate of Rev. Samuel L. Watson. By his fidelity and diligence in the performance of duty, he aided greatly in maintaining and perfecting religion in this community and after a life of threescore and six years, we trust that he is now through grace where the wicked cease from troubling and where the weary are at rest.
Therefore, resolved, lst, that while we are deprived of the presence of our beloved brother in the services of the Sanctuary, in the Session and in the Prayer Meetings-we are comforted with the hope that he is with those faithful servants to whom it was said, "Enter into the joy of thy Lord."
2nd, that we are solomnly reminded by this providence that our time is short and that we should by fidelity and diligence be prepared to render up an account of our stewardship. For we know not at what hour our Lord may come.
The Session of Bethel Presbyterian Church desire to place on record this tribute to the Memory of Arthur A. McKenzie.
Mr. McKenzie was the son of Joseph McKenzie, Jr. and Nancy Kendrick McKenzie and the husband of Rachel Eliza Barnett McKenzie.
