Biography

His obituary was in The Gastonia Gazette on Tuesday, April 14, 1903.

Mr. B.G. Brown Dead.

At his home in the Bethel neighborhood early Sunday morning Mr. B. Green Brown passed away after a week's confinement, this being the second death to occur in the family within the short space of a week.  On the Sunday morning previous, almost at the same hour, Mrs. Brown died, as was chronicled in these columns a few days ago.  Mr. Brown had been in failing health for two years and the shock of his wife's death hastened the end.  He is survived by four daughters and one son; they are Miss Mary Brown, Miss Jennie Brown, Miss Ella Brown, at the old home place; Mrs. Eugenia Stewart and Mr. Bruce Brown, both living in the neighborhood.  The funeral was conducted at the home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. W.B. Arrowood, pastor of the Bethel church, of which Mr. Brown was a member.  The interment was in the Bethel cemetery.  Mr. Brown was one of the staunchest and most prominent citizens of his neighborhood and had many friends who will hear of his death with profound regret.  He was a good friend of THE GAZETTE, and we join those who sincerely mourn his death.
