Death of Mrs. Mary Patrick.
Correspondence of the Gazette.
Clover, S.C., March 16th. - Another mother in Zion has gone to her reward. Last Friday morning at 11:30 o'clock the spirit of Mrs. Mary Patrick, the widow of the late Capt. J. Clinton Patrick, took its flight from time to eternity. Mrs. Patrick's last illness was a short duration. On last Wednesday she and her daughter, Mrs. W.B. Riddle, went to the home of a neighbor, Mr. J. Munroe Adams, to spend the day. During the day she was taken suddenly ill and her condition was considered serious from the first. On Thursday afternoon, however, her condition was somewhat improved and she was moved to the home of her daughter a short distance from Mr. Adams' where she died as above stated. Her departure was so peaceful and easy that the watchers were hardly aware that she was dying.
Had Mrs. Patrick lived until June she would have been 74 years of age. She had the pleasure of rearing a large family of dutiful children, five sons and four daughters all of whom are still living and were present to administer to the wants of their mother in her last hours.
Mrs. Patrick connected herself with Bethel Presbyterian church in her young days and was a consistent member until her death. Her interment took place in Bethel cemetery Saturday about noon where she was laid peacefully to rest beside her devoted husband, there to await the final call to the Master. Funeral exercises were conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.B. Arrowood.
